Qualifications

Basic requirements: Applicants must be over the age of 18,non-Chinese citizens must have a valid passport covering the whole study period, and must abide by Chinese laws and regulations and respect Chinese social customs.

Academic requirements: Applicants must submit their highest degree and academic transcripts issued by a Chinese university or its overseas equivalent.

Physical requirements: Applicants must be in good physical and mental health, free from any serious or infectious diseases or severe physical handicaps.

Language requirements: Applicants who cannot meet the language standard must study Chinese in the International Education College for Chinese Language Studies for one year and obtain an HSK 4 Certificate before beginning the degree courses. When applying for English-taught study, those applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of English proficiency.

Chinese language proficiency requirementAll undergraduate programs are conducted in Chinese. Undergraduate candidates are required to take the Chinese language proficiency exam, HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi), after registration. It is suggested that they study Chinese in the International College for Chinese Language Studies for one year or longer according to the results of the exam. Only those students who receive an HSK level 4 certificate or above are allowed to enroll in specialty courses. Master’s, PhD, General Visiting and Senior Visiting candidates are not required to study the Chinese language, provided that there are no communication obstacles with their supervisor.
