Liangshan boasts sights of human interest which can be summarized as “Two Flavors (Yi People’s flavor and Mosuo People’s flavor) and One Technology (aerospace technology)”.

Liangshan is a melting pot of Chinese ethnic cultures with Yi People’s culture preserved intact. With a pronounced Yi People’s flavor prevailing in this area, you can experience the Torch Festival as well as Bimo’s and Suni’s religious activities. You can join the Yi People’s singing and dancing as well as appreciate their beautiful costumes and residential housing. You can taste their delicious food and visit the Museum of Slave Society. In addition, the Mosuo culture at Lugu Lake is so simple and primitive that it is called the most precious living fossil of mankind’s matriarchal societies. In Muli Tibetan Autonomous County, there are the typical political systems which integrate the church and the state. The relics of the Red Army’s Long March are important parts of Liangshan tourist resources. The Xichang Satellite Launch Center is the first launch site open to the outside world, gaining enormous publicity for the prefecture at home and abroad.

Meanwhile, the rich natural scenery in Liangshan Prefecture can be divided into five categories: mountains, geological features, waterscape, meteorological scenery and ecological scenery.

Mountain scenery: Decorated with primitive forests, glaciers, glacial lakes and the Azalea Sea, Luoji Mountain is enveloped in mist and clouds, which is as beautiful as Emei Mountain and the Jiuzhanggou Valley. Lushan Mountain is famous for its scenery and coexistence of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. Snow-capped Qialangduoji Mountain in Shangri-La, together with Snow-capped Xiannaiyi and Yangmaiyong Mountains in Daocheng County (in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture), are called Three Brothers Peaks with a high reputation at home and abroad. Geological features: Liangshan gains the name of Geological Museum owing to a large number of limestone caves and exotic rocks in different poses and with different expressions. Waterscape: The second to none waterscape are three lakes, two hot springs and one waterfall, namely, Qionghai Lake, Lugu Lake, Horse Lake; Puge Hot Spring, Dacaohe Hot Spring as well as Hot Spring Waterfall of Luoji Mountain.
